‘What about the lord?’ is a music video comissioned by artist Tyrese Witherspoon for a song of his sophmore project ‘The Unhomely.’

In this piece, I wanted to explore a marriage between the silent film ‘Passion of Joan of Arc’ and an image I saw of James Baldwin sitting in a church pew. This song can be considered something of a gospel record and the key was to be able to film it in a church, which we were approved to do in chicago’s roseland neighborhood. The result is a fairly momentous expression of the song and the struggles faced by its performer with salvation and addiction.
