About
SHILOH TUMO WASHINGTON (b. October 5th, 2000) is a filmmaker, WRITER and photographer from Chicago, Illinois.
His uniquely intimate and historically-concerned style is fashioned to capture the complex interior lives of his characters and subjects—revealing them to the outside world with a cathartic grace —has been described as a movement in “poetic realism.”
Be it in his moving 2022 adaptation of James Baldwin with Brother, Where Are You? or his autobiographical 2023 ode to his parents’ Romance in One For My Baby, Shiloh’s commitment to the intricacies of black life throughout history has remained firm—and such is the mission of his independent art house TUMO WORKS.
His next Short Film ‘Bailey’s Blues’ is a thematic stepping stone towards his larger tapestry on Chicago’s rich cultural history: A Terrible Sound.
