A new narrative experiment captured on 16mm film, “Bailey’s Blues” follows world-famous jazz bassist Marion Bailey during a rest stop in Antibes during the 1962 International Jazz Festival. He has become the subject of a French documentary directed by a big name in the cinematic ‘New Wave.’ Shot in the spirit of archival, It is both a film as well as a living archive: following the black expatriate from Chicago as he reflects on the role of a poet in flight.
